A data-led digital business is hiring a Junior Software Developer to support the development of large-scale data acquisition and web scraping systems.
This role is ideal for a Computer Science graduate or early career developer who wants to work on complex technical challenges around automated data collection, web access and scalable systems. The team currently works with PHP but are open to developers with backgrounds in Python, JavaScript or Java who are keen to learn.
Role: Junior Software Developer (Data Acquisition / Web Scraping)
Salary: £28,000
Location: Fully Remote (UK)
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the development of automated web scraping and data acquisition systems
- Working with engineers to collect structured and unstructured data from websites at scale
- Building and maintaining scripts and services that interact with modern websites
- Helping design systems that handle rate limiting, request validation and large data volumes
- Collaborating with data engineers to ensure extracted data flows into analytics pipelines
- Learning how to build resilient systems that operate reliably in production environments
What you’ll need:
- Degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical subject
- Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills
- Experience with at least one language such as PHP, Python, JavaScript or Java
- Interest in web technologies, automation and data extraction
- Understanding of HTTP requests, APIs and web architecture is beneficial
- Curiosity and motivation to work on technically complex challenges
