This is a 6-month project (Extension or Conversion to FTE Possible), 40 hours per week, remote role in the US.
This is a W2 employee of Stage 4 Solutions. Health benefits and 401K are offered.
Responsibilities
- Program Development & Scaling: Define and refine accessibility processes, standards, and workflows that can scale across multiple product teams. Identify gaps and opportunities in current practices, propose solutions, and work with leadership to prioritize program investments. Build the infrastructure — documentation, tooling, metrics — that makes accessibility sustainable.
- Strategic Integration: Partner with design, engineering, and product leadership to embed accessibility into existing workflows rather than bolting it on afterward. Influence how teams think about accessibility in their Definition of Done, user research, design reviews, and release processes.
- Enablement & Education: Build the capability of designers, developers, and product managers to own accessibility in their daily work. Create training materials, run workshops, and establish office hours or consultation models. Reduce full dependency on centralized accessibility experts by distributing knowledge.
- Hands-On Expertise: Conduct accessibility audits, review designs, and provide remediation guidance when needed. Use assistive technologies to validate experiences. Stay current on accessibility standards, emerging regulations, and evolving best practices. Your credibility as a leader depends on maintaining practitioner-level skills.
- Stakeholder Communication: Translate accessibility requirements into business terms for leadership and technical terms for engineering. Report on program health, compliance status, and risk. Advocate for resources and prioritization when accessibility needs compete with other priorities. Serve as the voice of users with disabilities — grounding conversations in real user needs rather than abstract compliance checklists.
- 7+ years of experience in digital accessibility
- Deep expertise in auditing for WCAG 2.2 Level AA and reading VPATs
- Hands-on proficiency with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack) and other assistive technologies
- Experience building or scaling accessibility programs, not just executing audits
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and leadership
- Strong communication skills — able to translate between technical, design, business, and end user audiences
- Knowledge of domestic and international accessibility regulatory frameworks
- Experience with digital accessibility across platforms (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, web)
- Experience developing and delivering accessibility training for designers, developers, or product teams
- Experience working directly with disability communities or users who rely on assistive technologies
- Experience with enterprise software or internal tools
- Background in UX design or front-end development
- IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, or CPWA)
- Experience defining accessibility metrics and reporting frameworks
