Job Description

What’s the Role:

Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) Digital is delivering the next phase of the Westpac One platform, providing relationship‑managed customers with secure, real‑time access to payments, liquidity, onboarding, and data driven insights.

This Product Manager role owns the strategy, roadmap, and delivery outcomes for a significant product area or end‑to‑end capability within the Westpac One platform. Working with a dedicated squad, the role is accountable for translating product strategy into measurable outcomes at squad level.

The position is hands‑on and execution‑focused, suited to someone who can independently manage a backlog, make informed trade‑off decisions, manage risk, and deliver value within a large‑scale, highly regulated environment. The Product Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy while remaining aligned to priorities, investment parameters, and regulatory guardrails set by product leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, and delivery outcomes for a defined Westpac One product area or end‑to‑end capability.
  • Independently manage and prioritise the product backlog, making informed scope, sequencing, and risk trade‑offs to maximise value.
  • Deliver frequent, incremental releases that balance customer outcomes, quality, risk, cost, and time to market.
  • Act as the primary product interface between customers, stakeholders, and the delivery squad, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Embed customer‑centred design and translate customer, business, and regulatory requirements into clear features and user stories.
  • Ensure delivery complies with security, risk, and regulatory requirements while operating with end‑to‑end accountability at squad level.
  • Proven ability to take end to end accountability for squad‑level outcomes, owning decisions, delivery quality, and follow‑through without relying on formal authority.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across CX, technology, risk, compliance, and business stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving capability, able to assess options, manage trade‑offs, and apply sound judgement without unnecessary escalation.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships, balancing competing priorities and influencing outcomes through evidence and clarity.

What do I need?

  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to sequence work, identify risks early, and adapt priorities to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to different audiences and contexts.
  • Solid understanding of agile, lean, and value‑driven delivery practices, with experience measuring and tracking value at a product or squad level.
  • Product ownership or product management experience in a complex or regulated environment, with exposure to digital platforms and an understanding of institutional banking or similar domains.
