The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of the project according to contractual terms and customer specifications. The Senior Project Manager manages and is responsible for the full spectrum of the project from concept design to installation and final acceptance at customer floor. The Senior Project Manager will exercise supervision over a multi-functional project team. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for determining the resources required for the project and requests the resources from the appropriate functional manager. The Senior Project Manager overseas the tasks and assignments of staff assigned to the project, however issues dealing with individual performance is the responsibility of the respective functional manager. The Senior Project Manager will establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork. The Senior Project Manager will ensure resolution of problems.
- Detailed planning and scheduling including, design, integration, installation and testing
- Establishes and communicates the responsibilities and timeline milestones of all company resources supporting the project and clearly coordinates them so that individually and collectively they carry out their tasks efficiently, within budget and on schedule
- Manages the project schedule of all project related phases and milestones. Reviews the status of the work at regular intervals, traces cause of deficiencies and works with functional managers to plan and execute prompt corrective action
- Monitors project materials and resources budget and profitability and informs senior management of potential and actual cost/timing over-runs
- Ensuring that systems, procedures and policies for carrying out the work are properly applied through the project.
- Communicates project progress both internally and to the customer, as required
- Builds customer relations for the project by acting as primary customer contact and maintain a good working relationship with the customer for design, costing, process and quality-related issues
- Facilitates communications between clients and internal resources as required.
- Implements and manages project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
- Establishes and maintains relationships with third parties/vendors
- Works closely with Supply Chain to procure and expedite required materials
- Engages and communicates with Production/Assembly team to monitor progress, and advise milestone deadlines
- Travels to customer site to oversee and document installation, test, and final acceptance of equipment
- Communicates technical and legal requirements of the project to team members
- Ensures project legal documents are completed and signed.
- Controls and prevents project scope-creep and identifies scope changes as “add-ons” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project and engages with Sales/Applications team to arrange quote
- Maintains project stations and allocates budget in Microsoft Navision (ERP)
- Resolve and trouble shoot technical issues with the support of project team.
Requirements
- Engineering Degree (Mechanical Design in Automation is highly preferred)
- PMP certification or equivalent certification is an asset
- Proven experience in working with internal teams and external stakeholders
- 5+ years of experience in project management.
- 5-10 years of work experience in automation industry.
- Experience of managing $1M+ projects; managing a team of 5+ members
- Mechanical design background is an asset.
- Proven experience in people management, resource planning, budget control, scheduling, scope management
- Must be resourceful in resolving problems
- Proficient in the MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and MS Project
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, esp. Microsoft Navision considered an asset
- Working knowledge with Solid Works / DraftSight (AutoCAD) considered an asset
- Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Analytical and hands-on approach to resolve technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Good customer service and customer relation skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
