We're seeking a Tech Lead who wants to build world-class developer experiences in an environment that values craft, collaboration, and sustainable practices.

The Role

You'll be responsible for the platforms that make developers' lives better: pipelines, tooling, AI IDEs, API registries, and development automation. Your mission is to make development more intuitive, fast, and compliant.

The work includes:

• Writing and driving implementation of low-level designs for priority initiatives
• Hands-on involvement in code quality, working directly with squads on challenging implementations
• Collaborating with the Principal Engineer to break down high-level designs into detailed components
• Rolling up your sleeves to build working prototypes for new or complex functionality
• Mentoring and guiding engineers in quality engineering and development practices
• Joining incidents to diagnose and solve critical issues across DevOps platforms
• Participating in post-mortems to continuously improve products, technologies, and team practices

You'll work closely with the Principal Engineers and Staff Engineers to translate product objectives into shippable components, sometimes building them yourself when the challenge demands it.

• Languages: Java (Spring Boot), Go, TypeScript (React, Next.js)
• Platforms: GitHub, machine-readable registries and repositories
• Focus: Back-end development for developer tooling, AI IDEs, automation frameworks
• DevOps: At the core of development workflows and pipelines
• AI/LLM: Applied use in developer tooling and frameworks

Your Application Should Demonstrate

• Senior engineering experience with hands-on work in Java, Go and/or TypeScript
• Back-end development focused on developer tooling and IDEs
• Experience testing and shipping developer tools at scale
• Technical mastery applying expertise across complex systems
• Ability to shape system architecture considering organisational priorities and scaling
• Track record leading complex technical initiatives through both hands-on work and mentoring
• Experience finding and solving gaps in system design
• Demonstrated applied interest in AI/LLM use, methods, and frameworks - tell us what you've built, what you've broken, and what doesn't work (and why)
