PHP Backend Developer (Symfony) – Hybrid, Warsaw

We are looking for an experienced PHP Backend Developer to join our client’s engineering team. If you enjoy designing scalable backend solutions, working in modern cloud environments, and improving existing systems through refactoring and optimization — this role is an excellent match.

About the Role

As a Senior PHP Backend Developer, you will play a key role in designing and developing backend systems, supporting architectural decisions, and building high‑quality integrations within a modern, cloud‑based environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Designing and developing backend systems using PHP 7+ / 8 and Symfony 6
• Participating in architectural design and long‑term system development strategy
• Building and maintaining integrations with external systems
• Optimizing and improving existing solutions for performance and maintainability
• Working in a cloud‑oriented, containerized environment
• Refactoring legacy code to enhance quality, clarity, and performance
• Collaborating closely with DevOps, frontend teams, and business analysts
• Conducting code reviews and contributing to continuous process improvements
• Ensuring high-quality, clear, and maintainable code

What We Expect

• Strong experience with PHP 7/8 and frameworks such as Symfony or Phalcon
• Good understanding of design patterns and development best practices
• Hands‑on experience with MySQL / PostgreSQL
• Ability to design and integrate REST APIs
• Solid understanding of Git
• Experience with Docker and container‑based workflows
• Ability to write automated tests (e.g., PHPUnit)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Good communication skills and teamwork abilities
• Readiness to work with legacy code and systematically improve it
• Openness to learning, experimenting, and sharing knowledge

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of CI/CD principles
• Experience with UNIX/Linux environments
• Basic frontend skills (HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery), especially for EasyAdmin
