Job purpose

The IT Assistant supports the daily operation and maintenance of the organization’s information technology systems. The role involves assisting with hardware and software troubleshooting, maintaining IT equipment, providing technical support to staff, and ensuring that technology systems function efficiently to support business operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support

  •   Provide first-line technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network-related issues
  •  Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical problems related to operating systems, applications, and devices.
  •   Monitor and maintain IT equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  •   Support the setup of workstations, user accounts, and access permissions.
  •   Assist in maintaining system documentation and IT inventory records.
  •   Perform routine system updates, backups, and maintenance tasks.
  •   Help ensure data security and compliance with IT policies and procedures.
  •   Assist with network connectivity issues and basic network maintenance.
  •   Support the IT team in implementing new systems, upgrades, and technology projects.


Required Skills

Technical Skills

  •   Extensive knowledge of computer hardware components.
  •   Basic knowledge in electronics.
  •   Strong understanding of operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and basic Linux environments.
  •   Ability to install, configure, and update software applications.
  •   Strong background in networking concepts including IP addresses, routers, switches, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
  •   Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  •   Ability to perform system updates, backups, and antivirus management.
  •   Strong knowledge of IT security practices such as password management, data protection, and malware prevention.

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving

  •   Ability to diagnose and resolve common hardware and software issues.
  •   Analytical thinking to identify root causes of technical problems.
  •  Ability to follow troubleshooting procedures and escalate complex issues when necessary.

Communication Skills

  •   Ability to explain technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical staff.
  •   Strong written communication skills for documenting technical issues and solutions.
  •   Good interpersonal skills for assisting employees and collaborating with the IT team.

Organizational Skills

  •   Ability to manage multiple support requests and prioritize tasks effectively.
  •   Maintaining accurate records of IT equipment, software licenses, and support tickets.
  •   Attention to detail when performing system checks and documentation.

Time Management

  •   Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  •   Efficiently managing daily IT support requests while assisting with ongoing IT projects.

Adaptability & Learning

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and IT systems.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology environments and organizational needs.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.


Experience required: 1-2 Years

Languages required:

  •   Proficiency in English (spoken and written
