Working in Markets Trading

Statkraft trades energy products in more than 20 countries and is active on 13 energy exchanges. Proprietary trading takes place mainly from trading rooms in Oslo, Düsseldorf, London and the Unites States. Our Trading teams engage in standardised and customised contracts for power, gas and oil.

The Proprietary Trading department at Statkraft is known for its innovative and data-driven approach, and our team members are expected to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a passion for renewable energy. Collaboration is a key part of the culture in Trading and employees work closely with other teams within the company. The Trading Business Support team owns and constantly improves the operational environment of the Trading department. It is therefore the central point of contact for operational and administrative matters for all employees in and outside of Trading as well as for external stakeholders.

Job Description

As a (Junior) Business Analyst in the Trading Business Support team you will:

  • Report to the Trading Business Manager and support them in day-to-day activities.
  • Support Traders and Analysts in administrative and operational matters
  • Handle operational incidents and coordinate between traders and support
  • Drive the improvement of operational and governance frameworks
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build a comprehensive understanding of internal support processes and market mechanisms
  • Represent the Trading department in projects and working groups
  • Build and maintain close and positive relationships with support units
  • Support the wider management team with administrative tasks within the department.

Qualifications

  • University degree in business management, economics, finance, or a related field
  • Understanding of commodity trading, regulatory frameworks and market venues
  • Experience in project management or business analysis
  • Strong affinity for working with data and digital tools; ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Structured, disciplined and solution‑oriented working style
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and take ownership of end‑to‑end processes
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Curious, proactive and motivated, with a willingness to learn and share knowledge
  • Commercial mindset and ability to work independently in an international environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent English required; German and/or Norwegian are an advantage.
