We are Hiring: Chief Technology Officer

1 in 3 Australians use HotDoc. 20,000 GPs depend on it. The mission, to deliver the best healthcare experience for every Australian, is not a tagline. It drives every decision made here, including this one.

In early 2026, HotDoc partnered with Potentia Capital alongside existing investor Airtree Ventures. The business is at a genuine inflection point, scaling fast, embedding AI across the platform, and building the leadership team to match the ambition. This hire is central to that.

About the Role

The CTO is the custodian of patient trust and the catalyst for engineering speed at HotDoc. You will own the engineering function and technology strategy, leading a team of 25 engineers across Product Engineering, Platform and SRE, Security, and Data and AI.

You will hold full budget responsibility and be expected to drive a step-change in engineering velocity and AI adoption across the organisation, partnering with Potentia AI Labs to keep HotDoc at the forefront of AI-driven healthcare technology. You will report directly to the CEO, translating technical trade-offs into commercial language and delivering transparent reporting on technology strategy, cyber risk and platform resilience.

Critically, you will work as a genuine partner to the rest of the team, keeping engineering effort tightly aligned to customer outcomes and the commercial priorities of a PE-backed business operating at pace. This is a high-accountability, high-autonomy role.

About You

We are looking for someone exceptional, not someone adequate. You will need to demonstrate most of the following:

  • Proven CTO in a high-growth, VC or PE-backed environment. You understand what it means to operate under a growth mandate and deliver against it.
  • Demonstrated AI leadership in practice, not in theory. You have embedded AI tooling and workflows into an engineering organisation and have measurable outcomes to show for it.
  • Experience scaling engineering teams in a B2B2C or B2C environment at significant user scale.
  • A track record of execution and change leadership. You move fast, make decisions with incomplete information, and bring people with you through ambiguity.
  • The ability to build genuine alignment across Product, Growth and commercial leadership. You are as comfortable in a commercial conversation as a technical one.
  • Commercial acumen. You connect engineering investment to business outcomes and communicate that credibly at board level.
  • Deep credibility across security, reliability and sensitive data environments, with a strong understanding of privacy and regulatory obligations in Australia.
  • Experience in healthtech or a regulated industry is desirable but not a prerequisite. Genuine curiosity about the mission is non-negotiable.
