About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Android Engineer (Full Stack) ready to play a starring role in shaping the future of cinema experiences. From digital ticketing and mobile engagement to in-theater innovation, your code will help set the stage for unforgettable nights at the movies. If you love the idea of blending creativity, technology, and storytelling, you belong in this production.
While Android application development is your primary focus, you'll work across our full technology stack as needed. We value engineers who are curious, adaptable, and willing to jump into backend services, web platforms, or infrastructure work when the team needs it. You don't need to be a full-stack expert, but you should be excited about learning and contributing beyond Android.
What will you be doing
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions that enhance cinema operations and elevate guest experiences.
- Collaborate across product, design, and operations teams to translate business goals into elegant, scalable solutions.
- Take ownership of projects from storyboard to premiere, seeing your work through from concept to production release.
- Continuously refine performance, scalability, and reliability to keep the show running flawlessly.
- Stay ahead of tech trends and pitch innovative ideas that make every visit to Regal a blockbuster experience.
- Language: Kotlin, Java (legacy), C# (Back-end), Next.js (Web).
- Platform: Android.
- UI: Jetpack Compose (primary) + Android Views (legacy).
- Architecture: MVVM (primary) + MVP (legacy).
- Build System/Project: Gradle.
- Networking: Okhttp, Retrofit.
- Dependencies: Firebase (incl. Crashlytics/Analytics), Braintree Payments.
- Testing: JUnit, Robolectric, Mockk, Espresso (UI testing).
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions.
- Product-first mindset: willing to work across the stack to ship great features.
- 5+ years building and shipping consumer Android apps.
- Declarative UI experience (primarily Jetpack Compose. Compose Multiplatform, React, Flutter, etc. are also useful).
- Strong with modern concurrency (Kotlin coroutines/RXJava) and modular architecture (MVVM, Dependency Injection).
- Testing mindset: unit/UI/snapshot with JUnit, Espresso.
- Experience with REST API integration and measuring app performance & reliability.
- Collaborates across product/design/backend; mentors and up-levels the team.
- Bonus: payments (Google Wallet/Braintree), analytics/experimentation, feature flags, push notifications, in-app messaging.
