This position is part of CLARIAH-VL+, a strategic research infrastructure project funded by the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO). CLARIAH-VL+ focuses on boosting research in the Humanities and Social Sciences using digital tools and services and fostering collaborations to create an accessible cloud platform for researchers. It unifies disciplines, which share the challenge of utilising a wide range of sources and heritage from ancient manuscripts to modern digital data. The project acts as a bridge, connecting researchers in Flanders with broader European research communities.
You will work on the re-design and implementation of the central website in order to give visibility to the developed tools and ensure a broad dissemination of the technical information received by the developers. To this scope, you will collaborate closely with the communication coordinator and with the central coordination. Moreover, you will coordinate with CLARIAH-VL+ partners and KU Leuven infrastructure: you will ensure that software officially supported by CLARIAH-VL+ is available to KU Leuven Faculty of Arts researchers, and to this scope coordinate with the other CLARIAH-VL+ partners in order to outline the best strategy to pursue for every tool (extending access to existing endpoints, creating new instances etc.).
Responsibilities
- Discuss the design of the CLARIAH-VL+ website with relevant partners and central management (GhentCDH)
- Restructuring the website and being responsible for the description of technical tools
- Managing the information inflow with the team in charge of communication
- Set up instances of open, collaborative software for the humanities, supported by or developed within CLARIAH-VL+, such as (but not limited to) MADOC, Nodegoat, eScriptorium, in collaboration with CLARIAH-VL+ partners
- Coordinate with the ICTS of the Faculty of Arts to ensure the sustainability of the infrastructure
- Provide and manage access for individual and group users
- Support tool usage (sharing documentation, responding to technical questions etc.)
- A Bachelor in Informatics, Digital Design or Development, or a Master in Digital Humanities, Media Studies, or equivalent degree or experience
- Affinity with web design and user experience
- Experience or interest in user feedback and testing
- Interest in digital infrastructure management
- Experience or interest in working in collaborative, interdisciplinary settings
- Excellent command of English
- Proficiency in Dutch is a plus
- A half-time position for 2 years, with remuneration based on experience and seniority, in accordance with KU Leuven scales for research staff.
- Collaboration with national and international partners, GhentCDH, Nodegoat developers, etc.
- Possibility to develop solid web design and infrastructure skills
