Project Manager – Utility Scale Solar & BESS

A global renewable energy technology leader is expanding its European project delivery team and is looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee the implementation of large-scale solar PV and energy storage projects across Germany.

The company works with utilities, developers, and investors to deliver utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure, helping accelerate the transition to clean power.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Project Manager with strong EPC experience in the German market to manage complex renewable energy projects from development handover through construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of project implementation and delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Manage project planning, execution, and coordination, supervising project teams and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Control and monitor project progress, quality, safety, costs, risks, and resource allocation.
• Support the Business Development team in evaluating project opportunities and feasibility (including occasional site visits).
• Monitor the company’s project backlog and coordinate internal teams to complete project kick-off procedures and procurement processes.
• Manage project cash flow, ensuring financial performance and submitting payment requests internally.
• Support EPC contract negotiations and project sales processes in cooperation with commercial and M&A teams.
• Ensure all projects comply with QEHS standards, internal project management procedures, and local German regulations.
• Work with the BD team to secure COD documentation and compliance requirements.
• Manage project commissioning, acceptance (internal and external), and warranty phases.
• Provide regular reporting to regional and global management (daily/weekly updates).

Requirements

• Fluent English (German is advantageous).
• 5+ years’ experience as a Project Manager, with at least 3 years in the solar PV sector.
• Experience with utility-scale renewable energy projects within the German EPC market.
• Knowledge of international engineering and project management standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is a plus.
