UI Design Intern

Company Description

RE:LAB is a design and innovation company specialized in shaping the interaction between people and complex technologies.

Since 2004, we have been working on products and systems used daily across the automotive, industrial, and consumer sectors. Our goal is to make advanced technology understandable, safe, and natural to use.

We don’t just design interfaces. We design experiences that bring together design, engineering, human factors, and artificial intelligence. Our multidisciplinary team tackles real-world challenges in highly complex contexts, where quality and reliability are essential.

We partner with global companies when user experience is not a detail, but a critical factor for a product’s success—when adoption, safety, and user trust truly make the difference.

At RE:LAB, we believe technology should feel human. This belief guides the way we work, the design decisions we make, and the relationships we build every day.

Designing human experiences for complex technologies.

Position

To support the activities of our HMI division, we are looking for a UI Design Intern (extracurricular internship) interested in developing skills in 2D interface design for digital and mobility-related systems.

The internship offers the opportunity to learn how to design and structure graphical interfaces within professional design workflows. The selected candidate will work alongside experienced designers, contributing to the creation and organization of visual components and interface assets.

A particular focus of the internship will be learning how to work with design systems in Figma, including components, variables, and variants, within projects related to mobility and HMI systems.

Main Activities

  • Support the design and production of 2D graphical assets for user interfaces.
  • Assist in the creation and organization of UI components and design system elements in Figma.
  • Learn to structure scalable interface libraries using components, variants, and variables.
  • Contribute to the preparation of graphical layouts and visual interface elements.
  • Support designers in maintaining visual consistency across interface projects.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborative workflows with UX designers and engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or currently enrolled) in Graphic Design, Visual Design, UI Design, Interaction Design, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in 2D interface design and digital graphics.
  • Interest in working with Figma and learning structured design system workflows.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn professional design practices.
  • Interest in interface design for mobility and technology-driven systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good command of the English language.

Nice to Have

  • Basic familiarity with Figma.
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools).
  • Personal or academic projects related to UI design or digital graphics.
  • Interest in HMI systems or mobility-related interfaces.
