Job Description
The Production Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the network infrastructures of multiple customers within a shared services team. He/She operates and maintains LAN/WAN, datacenter and security components in a 24/7 production environment, handles complex incidents (L2/L3), and implements changes and upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Operations & Monitoring: Ensure proper functioning of LAN/WAN/WLAN, datacenter networks, and customer interconnections. Monitor network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, proxies, load balancers) and manage alerts through diagnosis, prioritization, resolution, or escalation.
- Incident Management (L2/L3): Take ownership of complex incidents, perform advanced troubleshooting (logs, packet captures, traces), and communicate progress to internal teams and customers. Contribute to reducing recurring incidents through preventive actions and root cause analysis.
- Changes & Projects: Prepare, validate, and implement network changes (upgrades, migrations, patching). Produce change documentation and participate in architecture evolution projects. Execute high‑impact interventions, often outside regular business hours.
- On‑call & Out‑of‑hours Support: Provide 24/7 on‑call support according to the rotation, respond to critical incidents, and ensure service continuity and SLA compliance.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Maintain technical documentation and runbooks, support knowledge sharing, and contribute to process improvement, automation, standardization, and infrastructure optimization for performance, resilience, and security.
Experience & Core Skills
- At least 5 years of hands‑on experience in network operations/run.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and clear communication (written & verbal).
- Fluent in English; comfortable with technical English.
- Able to prioritize, work autonomously, and perform under on‑call conditions.
- IP Networking: Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), switching (STP, RSTP, VXLAN), QoS, HSRP/VRRP, link aggregation.
- Infrastructure: Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, HP; WAN (MPLS, IPsec VPN, SD‑WAN); enterprise Wi‑Fi environments.
- Security: Firewalls (ASA/FTD, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point), VPNs, proxies; concepts like segmentation, DMZ, NAC, bastion hosts.
- Tools: Monitoring tools (Zabbix, PRTG), ticketing (ServiceNow), config management (Git, Ansible).
- Systems: Good understanding of Linux/Windows servers and core services (DNS, DHCP, NTP). Knowledge of datacenter/virtualization (VMware, Nutanix, hypervisors, F5/Citrix load balancers).
- Rigorous, responsible, reliable—especially in production and on‑call environments.
- Strong analytical thinking; remains calm and reactive during crises.
- Team‑oriented mindset in multi‑customer environments.
- Organized, autonomous, and able to manage priorities effectively.
- Customer‑focused with respect for SLAs and deadlines.
