IPN promotes innovation and technology transfer, being the main link between the University of Coimbra and the business sector. IPN operates in three complementary areas: Incubation and acceleration of technology-based enterprises; Research and technological development; Highly specialized training. Recently, the IPN Incubator was distinguished by UBI Global as one of the 10 best university business incubators in the world.

The Laboratory for Informatics and Systems (IPN LIS) is one of the labs of research and technological development of IPN. It brings together a wide set of competencies and expertise in several areas of Information and Communication Technologies which are applied and used to support initiatives for technology transfer towards industry and public bodies.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join the IPN LIS team. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in AI projects. We are seeking someone with a natural aptitude for solving complex problems and a proven track record in researching and developing cutting-edge AI solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

·        Supporting the development and implementation of AI solutions, with an emphasis on LLMs

·        Contributing to the research and experimentation of new language models and algorithms

·        Collaborating with development teams to integrate AI solutions into the laboratory’s projects

What You'll Need:

·        Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

·        At least 5 years of experience in AI development

·        Advanced knowledge of deep learning frameworks

·        Proven experience in implementing large language models

·        Ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects

·        Excellent communication and presentation skills

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·        Ability to drive innovation and knowledge sharing internally

·        Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese

·        Knowledge and experience in Gen AI projects would be much appreciated
