AI Engineer (Azure & Agentic AI) – Freelance - Part Time (16hr / week)

Overview
Opportunity for an AI Engineer to join a fast-moving start-up, building internal AI solutions focused on automation and efficiency.
You will work across two parallel AI projects combining Azure-based solutions and on-prem environments. This is a highly autonomous, experimental role where output matters more than hours, with full flexibility in how and when you work.
The client is actively exploring AI and wants someone who can experiment, iterate, and push ideas forward. You will have full backing from stakeholders to test approaches and drive innovation.
A strong can-do mindset is essential, with the ability to move quickly and deliver results.
Immediate start required. 1-stage interview process (w/c 23/03).
Scope
- Integrate Azure OpenAI into existing applications
- Build agentic AI workflows (automation and decision support)
- Set up a local AI environment for internal use cases
- Work with APIs, data flows, and system integrations
- Ensure security, logging, and governance
- Collaborate with an external .NET/C# team
Profile
- 2+ years in AI / ML engineering
- Experience with Azure, ideally Azure OpenAI
- Experience with LLMs and AI integrations
- Background in AI agents, orchestration, or workflow automation
- Strong understanding of APIs and integrations
- Experience with Docker or server environments is a plus
- English Fluency Required, Dutch is a plus

- Approx. 2 days per week (fully flexible scheduling)
- Fully remote with 1 day per month onsite in Bruges
- Potential to scale into a full-time role
