Job Description
Location: Finland, Hyvinkää as this role requires on-site work 3 times a week
Core Technology under Group Functions is responsible for owning and developing Konecranes’ core control, automation, embedded, and digital technology platforms—ensuring safe, compliant, scalable, and connected machines and services across the entire group.
In practice, Core Technology team ensures that Konecranes machines and services are built on scalable, standardized, and future‑ready technology foundations, while meeting regulatory and functional safety requirements.
We are looking for a Technical Systems Engineer (Embedded Solutions) —the "engineering glue" who bridges the gap between electrical wiring, embedded software, and real-world system verification. As Embedded Solutions Development team, your role is to ensure that complex features are technically sound, well-structured, and verified against the physical reality of the machine. You are a proactive stabilizer who organizes complex technical topics and delivers concrete results
What You Will Do:
- Technical Bridge: Translate electrical schematics and industrial control requirements into functional development architecture. You ensure the software logic aligns perfectly with the electrical hardware.
- Test Environment Ownership: Construct and maintain physical test frameworks and setups. You are responsible for the technical integrity of the environments where our systems are verified.
- Cross-Functional Cooperation:
- Work daily with Software Developers to guide the implementation of hardware-related logic.
- Partner with the Test Manager to design technical verification cases that prove system reliability.
- Collaborate with Test Automation Owners to ensure regression testing covers complex electrical and system-level use cases.
- Hands-on Verification: Lead the technical validation in the test laboratory. You are responsible for ensuring that sensors, motors, and controllers interact correctly under real-world conditions.
- Technical Organization: Use digital collaboration systems to document technical decisions, architecture changes, and verification results. You ensure the technical "Big Picture" is always transparent for the engineering team.
- Electrical Expertise: Proven experience in electrical installation and maintenance of industrial control systems. You understand the physical behaviour of control cabinets and field components.
- Physical Framework Construction: The ability to physically build and wire test setups and maintain the frameworks used for software validation.
- System-Level Engineering: A strong ability to structure how embedded software, electrical circuits, and mechanical movements work together as a single system.
- Technical Ownership: You are a proactive specialist who provides concrete technical solutions rather than just identifying problems. You believe that clear technical documentation is the foundation of a successful product.
- Pragmatic Approach: You focus on high-quality technical outcomes and understand how to prioritize technical tasks to meet engineering goals.
- A degree in computer engineering, automation or electrical engineering
- Hands-on experience in material handling applications is strongly preferred and will weigh heavily in the evaluation
- Previous industry experience in system engineer role, or electrical engineer with an understanding to software development and /or software testing
- Proactive
- Good organisational skills
- Result orientated
- Understanding of lean and agile processes
- Proactive communication and stakeholder collaboration across functions and geographies and cultures.
