The Head of Web Development is the strategic and technical leader responsible for all web-based platforms, applications, and digital experiences across the organization. This role ensures that all web products are scalable, secure, high-performing, and aligned with business and customer needs.

They lead front-end, back-end, QA, and UX teams to deliver modern, responsive, and reliable web solutions through best-practice engineering standards, automation, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities


1. Web Technology Strategy & Architecture


  • Define and evolve the organization’s web architecture and technology roadmap aligned with business and product strategy.
  • Evaluate emerging web frameworks, tools, and trends to maintain competitive digital capability.
  • Establish coding, accessibility, performance, and architectural standards for all web solutions.
  • Ensure web platforms are scalable, secure, and performance-driven.
  • Govern reusable component libraries, design systems, and API integrations.


2. Web Development Leadership


  • Lead multiple web development teams across customer-facing web platforms and products (Trader Room, Copy Trading)
  • Oversee the full Web SDLC (design, development, testing, deployment, optimization, and maintenance).
  • Drive Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps practices to improve deployment speed and quality.
  • Manage prioritization, resource allocation, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accessibility awareness, performance optimization, and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards, security policies, privacy regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement and technical excellence in web engineering practices.

  • 3. User Experience, Performance & Accessibility


    • Partner closely with Product and Design teams to ensure excellent user experience and usability.
    • Champion mobile-first and responsive design principles.
    • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
    • Optimize Core Web Vitals, and overall site performance.


    4. People & Culture


    • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing web engineering, QA, and UI/UX teams.
    • Encourage continuous learning in modern web technologies and best practices.
    • Define clear career paths, technical ladders, and performance expectations.
    • Promote collaboration across Product, Marketing, Design, and Infrastructure teams.

  • Candidate Profile


    Experience


    • At least 8 years of progressive web/software engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
    • Proven track record leading front-end and back-end web teams.
    • Experience delivering large-scale web platforms, e-commerce sites, or high-traffic portals.
    • Strong exposure to cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment practices.
    • Experience in Agile product delivery environments.


    Technical Competencies


    • Deep understanding of modern web architecture and design patterns.
    • Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, .NET, Java, Python).
    • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST/GraphQL APIs, and microservices.
    • Familiarity with performance optimization, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive design.
    • Experience with containerization, cloud platforms, and CDN strategies.
    • Knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
    • Solid grasp of database design, caching strategies, and performance tuning.
