The DRC is one of the most resource-rich countries on earth. It is also one of the most underserved when it comes to the industrial infrastructure its economy needs to function — waste management, clean energy, resource recovery, circular economy systems that turn what is currently a liability into productive output. The gap between what exists and what is needed is enormous. So is the opportunity for those who know how to work there.

Energetech is a Dubai-based commodity trading and infrastructure company that has spent years building the on-the-ground relationships, local capabilities, and commercial credibility to operate effectively across Central Africa. We work with the region's major mining operators, we have institutional access at the highest levels of the DRC's state-owned enterprise landscape, and we are genuinely invested in the long-term development of the country — not as a statement of intent, but as the foundation of everything we do commercially.

We are now building out project development and grant strategy as a formal pillar of the business, and we are looking for the person to lead it.

THE ROLE

This is a senior position sitting at the intersection of development finance and commercial infrastructure delivery. The mandate is to identify and pursue DFI, bilateral, and multilateral funding instruments that can finance the construction of real assets — waste processing facilities, energy infrastructure, resource recovery and circular economy systems — that serve the DRC economy and generate long-term returns for the business.

You will not be writing grants in isolation. You will be working alongside a team with deep local knowledge, active counterparty relationships, and existing project pipelines. The competitive advantage is already there. Your job is to unlock the capital that turns it into built infrastructure.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Map available funding instruments across DFIs, EU mechanisms, USAID, AfDB, and bilateral development programmes against our active project pipeline — Lead application strategy and execution for targeted instruments, coordinating across legal, technical, and in-country workstreams — Structure grant-facing project entities in a way that preserves commercial control and long-term asset ownership — Manage funder relationships, compliance, and reporting from award through project completion — Build Energetech's standing and track record within the development finance community systematically over successive cycles — Work closely with the Chief of Projects & Engineering and senior leadership on pipeline prioritisation and sequencing.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You have a background in or close to development finance — a DFI, bilateral programme, impact investor, or development consultancy. You understand how these institutions think, what they are trying to achieve, and what makes an application genuinely competitive.

Equally important: you are commercially oriented. You think in terms of assets, revenue, and long-term value — not just project completion. You understand that the most powerful grant applications are the ones where execution credibility is beyond question, and you know how to build and present that case.

You appreciate the complexity of operating in frontier markets and are energised by it rather than deterred. You understand that the most durable development outcomes come from combining international standards and financing with real local relationships and on-the-ground capability — and that is precisely the model we are building.

Exposure to Sub-Saharan Africa is expected. French is a significant advantage. Strong written capability is non-negotiable. The role is based in Dubai with regular presence in Kinshasa.

WHY ENERGETECH

Most organisations pursuing development finance in markets like the DRC are either international firms without local roots, or local entities without the institutional credibility to compete for serious funding. We are neither. We have the operational track record, the in-country relationships, and the commercial structure to be a genuinely differentiated applicant — and we are building the team to match.

If you want to do work that is commercially serious and genuinely matters for the country you're working in, this is the role.
