Position Summary
We are seeking a Scrum Master to play a critical role in a key program within the Department of Veterans Affairs driving agile practices accelerating the delivery of modern IT solutions. You will assist and support the Release Train Engineer with PI (Planning Interval Planning Activities for these Agile Release Train (ART) Program Events.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Workstream Managers operating in Agile Product Owner roles to translate epics and user stories into actionable tasks, maintaining a clear and prioritized backlog aligned with client business objectives.
- Promote transparency, communication, and alignment across cross-functional teams, including technologists, security experts, product managers, and client stakeholders.
- Track team output, achievement, and sprint metrics, providing regular updates to stakeholders and leadership on progress, risks ,and opportunities for improvement.
- Advise government personnel and delivery partners on process standardization, agile adoption, and digital transformation of best practices within the federal environment.
- Ensure the team’s work aligns with the program’s mission to deliver scalable, sustainable, and impactful digital solutions for end users.
- Facilitate and guide one or more Scrum teams in the adoption and implementation of the Scrum framework, ensuring agile best practices are followed throughout project lifecycles.
- Organize and lead Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning,
- Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring productive and focused meetings.
- Remove impediments and blockers that hinder the team’s progress, proactively identifying, and resolving issues to maintain momentum.
- Coach, mentor, and support team members and stakeholders in agile principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
- Advise government personnel and delivery partners on process standardization, agile adoption, and digital transformation best practices within the federal environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar agile delivery role, preferably supporting large-scale digital transformation or federal government projects.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and coaching teams in agile methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remove impediments in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build relationships across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with project and configuration management tools such as Jira, Rally, or GitHub is desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government Public Trust security clearance, if required.
Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday. Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs.
