Network Administrator

This position is responsible for routine support on the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), VoIP infrastructure, and Internet system, or a segment of a network system. Install and configure network/VoIP hardware and software. Monitor the network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Utilizes service management tools, following established policy and procedures, to track and document issues, requests, incidents, and projects. Performs follow-up to ensure issues, requests, and incidents are resolved.
  • Participates in client’s change management process for software and hardware changes. Communicates, as necessary, with end-users regarding changes that may impact operations.
  • Enters time (worked and non-worked) for tickets and projects on a daily/weekly basis, ensuring all time is documented according to procedures and processes.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replaces defective components when necessary.
  • Configures and tests computer hardware, networking software, VoIP software, and operating system software.
  • Analyzes equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
  • Implements and provides technical support for voice services and equipment, such as private branch exchange, voice mail system, and VoIP telecom systems.
  • Monitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Maintains logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
  • Researches new technologies by attending seminars, reading trade articles, or taking classes, and recommends the implementation of new technologies or processes.
  • Maintains an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS


Education

Minimum of an Associate’s degree in an Information Technology program such as network administration, computer support specialist, information systems administration, computer networking, etc.


Experience


Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an information technology environment, specifically working with routers, switches, wireless ap’s on a local area network and a wide area network.


Certificates & Licenses


A+, Network+, MSCE, CCNP, CCIE, Security+, or equivalent certifications are preferred.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a motor vehicle records background check.
