Job Description:
The DevOps engineer works within a small team of platform engineers dedicated to building and maintaining multiple growing platforms and other cloud-based services that support the full application lifecycle. The role provides significant opportunity to research and incorporate new technologies with an emphasis on cloud-based infrastructure, driving platform evolution and enabling self-service for users.
The role involves working closely with a variety of software development teams, assisting them to onboard new projects, implement CI/CD pipelines, and incorporate open-telemetry tooling, empowering them to accelerate software delivery and adopt the principles of a DevOps culture.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Support Azure pipeline development and cloud migration efforts.
- Configure and manage Windows application servers and IIS web applications.
- Provide ongoing support for CI/CD toolsets and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Maintain documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration for reliable environment management.
- Plan, automate, test, and deploy databases using pipelines.
- Identify and implement process improvements for DevOps workflows.
- Cultivate relationships internally and externally, offering mentorship as needed.
- Manage time and workload effectively to meet project deadlines.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong IT infrastructure background with expertise in DevOps methodologies and cloud architecture.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Effective project management skills, delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to manage client relationships and deliver excellent customer service.
- Proactive approach to learning and research, working autonomously when needed.
- Excellent administrative and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

- Encouraging and supporting the adoption of devops and Agile methodology.
- Managing workload planning and developer tools of Azure devops, Jira, Confluence and SonarQube.
- Configuring application and infrastructure pipelines to support automation in software delivery.
- Overseeing Application Lifecycle Management framework.
- Supporting delivery of multiple Digital Transformation programs. We work to continually expand and mature our service offerings so that we can improve the quality, assurance and speed of development delivery.
Essential Criteria:
- DevOps Engineering:
- Experience with modern and legacy coding languages and associated build processes, versioning and packaging.
- Experience implementing static code analysis, unit testing, and quality gates.
- DevOps Integrations:
- Experience with integration of service connections.
- Experience with integration of 3rd party and custom DevOps tools.
- Experience with integration of cloud components and SaaS products.
- Experience with integration of reporting platforms.
- Experience with integration of service management tools.
- Cloud Experience:
- Experience with Azure Cloud, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, security controls and deployment templates.
- Experience with multi-cloud.
- Experience with hybrid cloud.
- DevOps Architectures:
- Experience in producing DevOps architectural patterns that are reusable and scalable.
- Experience in multi-cloud, hybrid and legacy build and release architecture.
- DevOps Support:
- Experience working collaboratively with teams in guiding software development activities to achieve automation efficiencies and traceability.
- Experience in operational support for DevOps software components.
- Experience in operational support in maintaining build and release pipelines.
Desirable Criteria:
- Multi Cloud and Technology:
- Bedrock and Terraform experience is desirable.
- Jenkins, Maven and WebLogic experience is desirable.
- Selenium experience is desirable.
- AWS cloud experience is desirable (Jira / Confluence).
- Atlassian cloud experience desirable.
- Departmental Processes:
- Experience with existing Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry systems and architecture, or similar regulatory agency is desirable.
- Experience with government change control and ISM requirements is desirable.
