We’re looking for passionate, community-minded people across Central West, Northwest NSW, North Coast, Hunter, and Hunter Central Coast to join our team as Game Development Officers.
Whether you’ve played Aussie Rules, rugby league, soccer, netball, cricket, or you have no prior sporting experience – your experience is valuable with us. You don’t need to know AFL; you just need a love for sport, a positive attitude, and a passion for helping kids stay active and connected through team sport.

About The Role
In regional areas across Northern NSW, AFL is continuing to grow, and we’re looking for passionate people to help us build strong connections in local communities.
Our mission is simple: For everyone to love and connect with Australia’s game.
As a Game Development Officer, you’ll play a vital role in introducing kids to the game, many for the very first time – and helping sport be more inclusive, fun, and accessible.
Who This Role Could Suit

- Have coached, played, or worked in any sport and enjoy engaging with kids.
- Are studying education, sport science, or youth work and want hands-on experience.
- Are parents, carers, or anyone looking for flexible, meaningful work.

- Want to give back and help kids build confidence and friendships through sport.
As a Game Development Officer, you’ll be out in the community helping kids get moving and feel part of something bigger through team sport.
Your Week Might Include
- Delivering fun, skills-based sessions in schools and clubs – we’ll teach you the AFL activities, you bring the energy and engagement.
- Running Auskick or Superkick programs that help kids build confidence, make friends, and love being active.
- Supporting community events and game days, creating positive experiences for kids and families.
- Championing inclusion, working on programs that support multicultural communities, girls in sport, Indigenous programs, and kids of all abilities.
This is a casual role, perfect for those who thrive in dynamic, community-focused environments.
Hours vary depending on program periods, ranging from short school sessions to longer days during busy terms. Flexibility is key – some weeks may be busier than others, so if you’re adaptable and ready to jump in when needed, this role is for you.
Most Shifts Typically Occur
- During school hours for school programs and competitions
- Before or after school for Auskick and Superkick sessions
- Occasionally evenings or weekends for AFL Nines & community events
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be a footy expert – we’ll provide training and support. We’re after people who are:
- Confident working with kids, with a fun, positive energy.
- Great communicators who can connect with children, families, and school staff.
- Reliable, independent, and proactive, especially when working solo in schools or at events.
- Open to learning new things, including AFL activities and programs.
- Hold (or are willing to obtain) a NSW Working with Children Check.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
