Project Manager (Healthcare Information Systems) is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex healthcare information system projects. This role oversees all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in healthcare IT, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams on mission-critical initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Lead the end-to-end management of healthcare information system projects, including scope definition, resource allocation, budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as clinicians, IT professionals, executives, and vendors to gather requirements, set objectives, and ensure project deliverables meet clinical and operational needs.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and progress reports, adapting strategies as needed to meet changing demands and ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR), data security standards, and organization policies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project performance using established metrics, proactively identify issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain quality, scope, and budget.
- Facilitate effective communication among project teams, executive leadership, and external partners.
- Mentor and guide junior project managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and technology integration efforts
- Experience with large-scale system implementations or migrations in hospitals, clinics, or healthcare networks.
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED CT).
- Change management expertise, including training and support for end-users.
- Ability to build consensus and drive collaboration among diverse teams.
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Eight (8) years of experience in software and/or product development, including two (2) years in IT project management Req
- Advanced project management education and experience.
- Preferred, Project management certifications (PMI, PRINCE)
