Introduction
The Automated Integrated Product Support (IPS) Programme Office (LN) of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) is responsible to provide responsive, effective and cost-efficient electronic, automated and integrated logistic support on behalf of NATO or NATO Member Nations.
NDSS is an automated and integrated logistics software support tool designed, developed and supported by NSPA. It covers the main logistic functionalities such as item management, stock management, requisitioning, procurement, fleet management, transport request, maintenance and repair, property accounting and property disposal.
The modules of the application software are written in PowerBuilder and Microsoft .Net, and are implemented in a client/server environment. Web front-end of NDSS is implemented using 3-tier Architecture.
NDSS is active in 31 user organizations across NATO and areas of NATO operations.
NSPA is involved in different development projects regarding the functional evolution of NDSS and its maintenance and is also involved in the support of other integrated logistics tools.
The contracted staff shall assist NDSS team in developing and implementing different projects based on PowerBuilder and .Net technologies.
Role Responsibilities
The IT System Engineer shall work within the platform team dedicated to the infrastructure support and maintenance. He / she shall be in charge of the infrastructure and shall have the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Management and support of the entire IT infrastructure (day to day management + problem solving)
- Management of backups of files, exchange, SQL Database, virtual machines
- Administration and management of the virtual IT infrastructure based on fully redundant and highly available VMware Vsphere and HyperV (for VDI solution) clusters
- Management of Microsoft failover cluster
- Management of Security and Anti-virus protection
- Management of Exchange infrastructure and servers
- Management of Active Directory, Group Policy, Domain Name Server (DNS), Remote Desktop Services (RDP)
- Management of products updates via WSUS (Microsoft and VMWare)
- Maintenance of the Local Area Network (LAN) components
- Migration of existing Virtual Machines (VMs) and physical servers
- Analysis and proposal of IT solutions to fulfil customer needs
- 7 years of IT experience and 5 years information systems (IS) experience particularly in the design and management of complex IT infrastructures including network and security.
- Knowledge of IS hardware and software and be able to be familiar with / not reluctant to perform a hardware mechanical assembly.
- Microsoft Operating System (both server and workstation versions)
- Active Directory Multi-site Management (including DNS, DHCP, GPO)
- Remote Desktop Services 2016 / 2019, RDS farm (terminal server)
- VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure)
- Virtualization concepts, VMWARE vSphere (version 6 or later) multi-site cluster provisioning and management
- Multi-site datacenters, full redundancy, vMotion, High Availability (HA), Data Release Sequence number (DRS), synchronous replication
- Storage Area Network (SAN), multi-site cluster (load balancing), Internet Small Computer System Interface (ISCSI) with replication capability
- Backup software (Arcserve, VEEAM or equivalent tools)
- Mcafee client protection (or equivalent)
- Mcafee ePO central console (or equivalent)
- Analysis and design of complex IT infrastructures
- Analysis of problems/troubleshoot as well as root causes to coordinate solutions
- VMware Center Operations (VCOPS)
- Hyper-V (2012 based or later) multi-site cluster
- TCP / IP Routing, VLAN
- Security update (via WSUS or equivalent tool)
- Network Attached Storage (NAS) technology
- Failover cluster
