Vision Test Automation Engineer - ALTEN Nederland
Are you passionate about computer vision, robotics, and high‑quality engineering? We are looking for a Vision Test Automation Engineer who wants to strengthen the reliability of advanced vision‑ and AI‑driven robotic systems used in modern agriculture. In this role, you contribute directly to animal welfare, food quality, and the future of sustainable farming by ensuring that vision pipelines and AI models perform consistently in real‑world environments.
Scope of the Role
You design and implement automated, system‑level regression tests that evaluate computer vision pipelines using measurable vision KPIs. These tests verify whether deep‑learning‑based detection and tracking behave correctly under real‑world conditions. You collaborate closely with multidisciplinary Scrum teams, including software engineers, computer vision specialists, test engineers, data scientists, and electronics engineers. The environment encourages experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines.
Core Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing automated system‑level regression tests based on vision KPIs for object detection and tracking.
- Validating computer vision pipelines that rely on deep learning and AI models in real-life robotic environments.
- Contributing to the training, verification, and performance evaluation of AI models used for vision applications.
- Analyzing test results and vision metrics and translating them into clear, actionable feedback for development teams.
- Integrating and maintaining vision‑based tests within CI/CD pipelines.
- Supporting the validation of new vision‑ and AI‑driven features in robotic products.
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s level of thinking and working, preferably in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field.
- At least two years of relevant experience in test automation, software engineering, or roles involving AI and/or computer vision.
- Experience with or demonstrable knowledge of computer vision pipelines, including deep learning models for object detection and tracking.
- Affinity with training, validating, and verifying AI models and working with vision KPIs at system level.
- Programming experience in Python; C++ knowledge is a plus.
- Familiarity with PyTorch and/or CUDA, as well as Linux, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfortable working in multidisciplinary Agile/Scrum teams and open to feedback, learning, and asking questions.
Impact of the Position
The work ensures that AI‑driven robotic systems operate reliably in unpredictable farm environments. By improving the quality and robustness of vision pipelines, this role supports farmers in adopting technology that enhances animal welfare, optimizes food production, and contributes to a more sustainable agricultural future.
Pay range and compensation package
- You get a permanent contract
- You can get a lease car with a fuel card
- Possibility of hybrid working
- Monthly net expense allowance
- 27 vacation days with the possibility to purchase 10 extra vacation days
- Pension scheme without personal contribution
