DIMENSIONS:
The Network Engineer is based in Romania – Salonta or Remote and covers EET time zone. The person will also be required to work outside or regular hours for maintenance and response to critical incidents or business requirements globally for each manufacturing site. This position requires frequent contact and cooperation with Network team members as well as Infrastructure team members and remote site IT leaders.
The position requires solid fundamental understanding of network concepts, monitoring concepts as well as experience with Network devices and monitoring systems.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
As part of the global network support team, Network Engineer functions in three main areas, Operations, Planning, and Management. As follows:
Operations:
- Actively monitoring the network and responding to alerts and verifying notifications sent by network monitoring and management systems.
- Acting as first line of support for network incidents, perform initial troubleshooting and triage before categorizing and escalating incident tickets. Maintaining incident management and documentation throughout the incident’s lifecycle.
Planning:
- Coordinating and communicating maintenance windows. Working with local site IT leaders and LAN administrators to provide maintenance windows and describe maintenance impact according to thorough impact analysis.
- Keep track of license, maintenance, and support contracts and their expiry dates. Escalating to management when expiration dates are near.
Management:
- Documenting Infrastructure changes (Move, Add, Change, and Delete – MACD) for infrastructure devices and Network Tools.
- Maintaining Asset management system and database for Infrastructure equipment and tools.
- Updating and maintaining Network Management tools, Network Monitoring tools, Network analysis tools, authentication servers etc.
- Updating and maintaining Network equipment firmware versions.
- Performing periodic security and network audits and present results reports.
- Performing periodic failover testing, record and present result reports.
COMPENTENCIES:
- Very organized and process oriented.
- Ability to handle stressful situations (crisis calls).
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Work well with people with different disciplines and varying degrees of technical experience.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. And ability to manage complicated tasks and track with basic project management concepts.
- Strong communication and writing skills, ability to express technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Being able to multi-task while keeping a commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in managing network changes and ensuring minimal disruption. Experience with change control processes and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Technical certificates such as CCNP+NSE4 or equivalent experience are required (NSE7 level are preferred).
- 5+ years of network experience, including routing, switching, and support of multiple network applications.
- In-depth knowledge of Fortinet Firewall/VPN/SDWAN load balancer configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Firewalls, Switches, Wireless (Fortinet, Juniper Mist and Cisco)
- Understanding of Network fundamentals (TCP/IP, L2/L3 LAN technologies, Wireless (Juniper Mist and Meraki preferred), routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), SDWAN, IPSEC, MPLS/VPLS.
- Good knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures related to Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN).
- Experience with network devices installation / deployment / backup and recovery of configuration
- Ability to understand / write / update / review documentation and technical specifications related to network infrastructures
- Experience with network management, monitoring, and alerting tools (SolarWinds preferred), Syslog, Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer.
- Good handling and solid knowledge of Office 365 Products (Visio, Excel, and Word, OneNote, Outlook, etc).
