About the job:

Based in Bydgoszcz, you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join the NATO Infrastructure Services Centre (NISC), which is accountable for planning and executing the full lifecycle management activities (design, transition and operations) for the identified area of responsibility. NISC provides generic, domain independent, technical functionality that enables and facilitates the operation and use of Information Technology resources.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Senior Network Engineer (internally called Engineer – Digital communication devices) who will operate within a highly complex, multi-domain environment supporting mission-critical services and distributed architectures.

The role combines advanced technical expertise with strong operational accountability, ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable interconnectivity across organizational boundaries. Beyond incident resolution, the position contributes to service evolution, risk-aware change implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives within a change-sensitive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced Level 3 support for complex enterprise network environments.
  • Lead the technical resolution of high-impact and high-severity incidents.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of recurring issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for service optimization and operational improvements, and drive their implementation.
  • Contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of network enhancements and new projects.
  • Ensure technical correctness, operational readiness, and minimal service impact during changes and deployments.
  • Validate and support network changes in line with governance and change management processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and service stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Deputise for higher-grade staff and perform additional duties as required.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

  • A minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 2 years post-related experience.


Or exceptionally, the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate’s particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NCI Agency, that is, at least 6 years extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post.

  • At least 2 years’ experience designing, implementing, and maintaining core network architectures within large organisations in network engineering or network operations area.
  • Proven hands-on experience with core networking technologies including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN architectures, and enterprise routing, switching in high-availability, mission-critical or multi-site environments.
  • Demonstrated experience operating and troubleshooting complex BGP and OSPF environments, including advanced BGP scenarios in production networks.
  • Working knowledge of MPLS-based environments.
  • Practical experience with multicast technologies in enterprise or multi-site environments.
  • Experience implementing and validating QoS mechanisms in operational environments.
  • Practical experience with IPsec-based secure connectivity solutions.
  • Practical experience with multicast technologies , including troubleshooting control-plane and data-plane behaviour in multi-site or multi-domain deployments.
  • Experience working with IPv6 in dual-stack environments, including routing, addressing considerations, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability in troubleshooting advanced cross-domain communication, application, and service-related issues, including end-to-end connectivity analysis across multiple network segments and administrative boundaries.
  • Strong awareness of network security principles and operational environments sensitive to change, with the ability to assess risk, impact, and service continuity before and during technical interventions.
  • Experience in Service Management processes including Incident and Change Management.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and analyse complex technical issues effectively.


Training/Certifications:

Certification level of Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
