Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and manage APIs using Kong Gateway.
- Configure and maintain API Gateway policies (rate limiting, authentication, logging).
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Implement API security mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, API keys, mTLS).
- Customize Kong using plugins (Lua / custom plugins).
- Manage API lifecycle including versioning, publishing, and deprecation.
- Integrate Kong with microservices architecture and backend services.
- Monitor and troubleshoot API performance and traffic.
- Work closely with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Maintain API documentation and developer portals.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Kong Gateway (Open Source or Enterprise)
- Knowledge of API Gateway concepts & API Management
- Proficiency in REST APIs, JSON, HTTP/HTTPS protocols
- Experience with Lua scripting for plugin development
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of microservices architecture
- Experience with authentication protocols (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT)
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
