Director of Engineering
Job Purpose:
We are partnering with a leading FS organization to appoint a Director of Engineering to lead and scale a critical engineering function.
This is a senior leadership role focused on shaping engineering strategy, driving modern development practices, and establishing strong governance to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across multiple teams.
The role is ideal for candidates currently operating at Exec Engineering level within complex, enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business objectives and enterprise architecture
- Lead and scale multiple engineering teams, driving a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
- Establish and enforce engineering governance frameworks, including standards, controls, and best practices
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices such as Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native development
- Ensure delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing technology solutions
- Collaborate with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to align priorities and deliver value
- Monitor and improve engineering performance through KPIs (velocity, quality, incident management)
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams
What We’re Looking For:
Leadership & Strategic Thinking
- Proven experience leading large-scale engineering organizations
- Strong track record in defining and executing engineering strategy at enterprise level
- Experience working closely with business and architecture stakeholders
Governance & Delivery Excellence
- Demonstrated experience implementing engineering standards, frameworks, and governance models
- Strong knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, and secure engineering practices
- Focus on quality, performance, and continuous improvement at scale
Technical Background
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, and modern architecture patterns
People & Stakeholder Management
- Ability to lead, mentor, and scale engineering teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across senior leadership
