Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT System Engineer to serve as the primary support and maintenance contact for a mission critical information technology system used by a military organization. This role involves resolving support tickets, monitoring system health, and performing both preventive and corrective maintenance across multiple sites. The Engineer will also support integration and deployment activities, including system upgrades and new site rollouts. Although primarily office-based, this position requires occasional work in confined spaces and availability to travel to remote sites within UAE.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for support related to the system, providing timely troubleshooting and resolution of issues while collaborating closely with customer’s personnel.
- Proactively monitor all sites to ensure optimal system performance. Conduct regular preventive maintenance, system checks, updates, and backups to maintain system integrity and security, addressing potential issues before they impact operations.
- Manage and maintain IT infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance through assessments and adjustments, as necessary.
- Integration Support: Assist with integration efforts by deploying new sites, planning installations, configuring hardware and software, and ensuring smooth implementation of the system.
- Networking: Proficient in Cisco networking technologies (routing/switching). Understanding of network protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
- Network Security: Knowledge of network security practices, including secure configurations and NGFW.
- Virtualization: Experienced with VMware ESXi for virtualization management, with knowledge of vSAN HCI.
- Server Management: Skilled in managing Windows and Linux servers, including server maintenance and update management.
- Active Directory: Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPO), with the ability to apply policies as required according to customer needs.
- Security Applications: Understanding security applications such as HIPS, EDR, and SIEM solutions.
- Databases: Experience with relational databases, particularly Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) and PostgreSQL.
- Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SolarWinds or Zabbix) for system performance and security.
- Backup and Recovery: Skills in backup and disaster recovery processes and tools.
- Collaboration Tools: Proficiency in collaboration tools such as JIRA or other ticketing systems.
- Incident Response: Experience in incident response planning and execution, including troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
- Documentation: Ability to create and maintain technical documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in IT support or system maintenance roles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers’ personnel.
- Experience in military or government settings is desirable.
