This is a unique chance for an ambitious developer to move beyond "ticket-monkey" work and take real ownership of complex PHP ecosystems. You will be architectural in your approach, managing live production environments where security, stability, and clean MariaDB database design are the top priorities.
The Role
- Architect and maintain high-performance PHP applications used in live production environments with sensitive data.
- Develop and optimize JavaScript functionality to create seamless, intuitive user journeys and API integrations.
- Manage MariaDB databases, focusing on query performance, data integrity, and complex schema design.
- Investigate and resolve critical issues in live, high-traffic environments while maintaining zero disruption for users.
- Collaborate on technical strategy and code reviews, ensuring the codebase remains scalable and highly auditable.
- Proven commercial experience as a PHP Developer, ideally working with modern frameworks and MVC patterns.
- Strong technical proficiency in JavaScript and integrating third-party APIs into web applications.
- Hands-on experience with MariaDB or MySQL, including a solid understanding of database optimization and security.
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted environments (AWS) and the ability to manage deployment workflows.
- A professional mindset regarding data protection, security compliance, and working within regulated industries.
- Competitive salary up to £42,000 based on your technical expertise.
