Aquarist

The Aquarist will carry out animal husbandry and underwater tasks, including feeding, habitat cleaning, equipment maintenance, and behavioral observations. The role will also support medical procedures and animal transfers while ensuring habitats remain clean and functional through daily siphoning and acrylic panel cleaning.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform animal husbandry and complete underwater tasks for assigned animals to the highest standards.
• Prepare and deliver daily diets and nutritional requirements to animals under care.
• Assist in animal medical procedures and transfer of animals between locations.
• Maintain cleanliness of habitats.
• Perform general maintenance of habitats, repair tools and equipment.
• Perform observation and data recording of animal behavior.
• Perform daily siphoning of debris/waste and cleaning of acrylic panels in habitats.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Marine Science, Aquaculture, Biological or Life Sciences.
• Scuba diving certification (Open Water Diver and above) preferred. (Training and certification will be provided for candidates with no scuba diving certification).
• Confident working in an aquatic environment.
• Passionate about working with animals.
• Passionate about environmental sustainability and conservation.
• Able to perform shift work, including on weekends and public holidays.
