Role Overview

We’re seeking a UX/UI Web Design Lead who is both a hands-on creator and a creative leader. This role blends design execution—creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups—with team oversight—reviewing, refining, and approving the work of other designers before it reaches our clients.

You’ll serve as the design authority for our web projects, ensuring every interface is intuitive, visually compelling, strategically aligned with client goals, and built with modern web standards in mind. You’ll work closely with the Director of Web Design & Development to ensure all designs are technically feasible across our core platforms (Duda, WordPress, Shopify, etc.), helping to uphold creative standards while freeing leadership from the need to review every design personally. When a project calls for it, you’ll roll up your sleeves to produce top-tier UX/UI deliverables yourself.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership & Web Quality Oversight

• Review, approve, and refine all website designs before handoff to development.
• Ensure all work meets web-specific standards: responsive breakpoints, accessibility (WCAG), and SEO-friendly layouts.
• Provide expert feedback to improve the flow and conversion of high-end marketing websites.

Hands-On Website Design

• Create wireframes and high-fidelity mockups for priority web projects.
• Develop intuitive, responsive, and aesthetically refined website interfaces.
• Translate creative direction into developer-ready designs that transition smoothly to CMS environments.

Collaboration & Technical Alignment

• Partner with the Director of Web Design & Development to align on project goals and creative vision.
• Work closely with project managers, developers, and content teams to ensure smooth design-to-development handoffs.
• Present design concepts and key deliverables to clients when needed.

Mentorship & Process Improvement

• Coach and mentor designers to elevate their UX/UI skills.
• Maintain design systems, style guides, and best practices to ensure consistency across projects.
• Champion user-centered design processes within the team.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a portfolio focused primarily on marketing websites and digital brand experiences (not software/SaaS/complex app dashboards).
• Multi-Platform Literacy: Familiarity with the design constraints of WordPress, Duda, and Shopify. You should understand how a design needs to be structured to work within these ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of UX principles, UI patterns, and responsive design.
• Mastery of Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, or other modern design tools.
• Deep understanding of web-specific UX: navigation patterns, landing page conversion, and responsive behavior across mobile, tablet, and desktop.

Leadership & Review Skills

• Track record of reviewing and improving the work of other designers.
• Keen eye for layout, typography, and visual hierarchy as it applies to high-end web aesthetics.
• Ability to give clear, actionable feedback that elevates the final web product.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience using Replit or other AI-powered development platforms.
• Knowledge of website performance optimization (balancing high-end visuals with site speed).
• Familiarity with usability testing tools and methodologies.
• Experience designing for luxury, tourism, or hospitality brands.
