THE COMPANY

Fruchthansa is a family-owned fruit and vegetable wholesaler based in Cologne, serving the European market for almost 60 years. With ~200 employees and a third generation of leadership driving modernization, we're investing in the technology that keeps our supply chain fast, reliable, and competitive.

THE ROLE

As a Data Analyst in our fresh produce trading division, you work hands-on with operational and analytical data – turning numbers into decisions. You enable both strategic and day-to-day decision-making across purchasing, sales, and logistics, helping ensure that freshness, availability, and profitability stay in balance across our supply chain. You work closely with our Software Engineers and Business System Analysts to shape how data flows through our systems and reaches the people who act on it.

What You’ll Work On

Reporting & Decision Support

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Power BI for management, purchasing, sales, and logistics teams – covering margins, turnover, waste, and supplier performance
  • Deliver ad-hoc deep dives for leadership: why did margin drop on a product group last week? Which suppliers are underperforming on delivery reliability?
  • Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations that directly influence purchasing decisions, pricing strategies, and inventory planning

Operational & Trade Analytics

  • Analyze sales, pricing, and inventory data to optimize purchasing and sales strategies in a fast-moving, perishable goods environment
  • Track and improve KPIs across the fresh produce supply chain – from order-to-delivery lead times to stock rotation and spoilage rates
  • Support seasonal demand planning and pricing analysis where product availability, market prices, and shelf life shift daily

Data Quality & Pipeline Development

  • Own data quality across reporting surfaces – identify inconsistencies, fix root causes, and build validation checks
  • Contribute to the development of internal data models, structures, and ETL processes using SQL, Python, Airflow, and DBT
  • Work with the engineering team to improve how data is captured, transformed, and made available from Business Central and connected systems

TECH STACK

SQL · Python · Power BI · Tableau · Excel/CSV · MS SQL Server · Airflow · DBT · Git/GitHub

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Statistics, Data Analytics, or equivalent qualification
  • Professional experience in data analysis, ideally in a trading, retail, or supply chain environment
  • Strong skills in SQL, Python, and at least one BI tool (preferably Power BI)
  • Experience with adjacent data technologies such as Airflow, DBT, MS SQL Server, and Git
  • Analytical thinking, high attention to detail, and a solid understanding of trading and logistics processes
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to present complex data so that non-technical stakeholders understand it and can act on it
  • Good German (C1) and English (C1) language skills

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in the fresh produce, food, or FMCG environment
  • Practical experience translating analytical insights into operational or strategic decision-making
  • Familiarity with ERP data models, particularly Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

What We Offer

  • A responsible position with direct influence on both operational and strategic decisions
  • Modern analytics environment with access to current BI and data engineering tools
