Senior Java Engineer (Contract) – Galway (Hybrid)

• Hybrid model (3 weeks remote, 1 week onsite in Galway)

We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Engineer to join an elite Asset Management technology team responsible for developing cutting-edge investment platforms that manage over $100 billion in global assets. This is a contract role based in Galway, offering a hybrid setup (three weeks remote, one week onsite).

As part of this dynamic team, you’ll design, build, and enhance complex systems that empower portfolio managers and analysts worldwide. You’ll collaborate closely with architects, product owners, and other engineers to deliver scalable, high-performance software solutions used in enterprise-level investment management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, maintainable, and high-performance software solutions using Java 17+ and modern frameworks.
• Contribute to the evolution of a large-scale, cloud-enabled architecture supporting real-time investment analytics.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and contribute to engineering standards across multiple teams.
• Drive test automation and CI/CD best practices to ensure product quality and rapid delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape technical improvements and long-term platform evolution.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java (17+), RESTful APIs, Spring Boot, and object-oriented design principles.
• Exposure to containerised environments (Kubernetes/EKS/AWS).
• Frontend experience with Angular 12+, HTML, CSS/SCSS, or TypeScript is a plus.
• Background in financial services or asset management (Equities, Fixed Income, or Alternatives) advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
