About the Client My client is the air transport industry's IT provider, delivering solutions for airlines, airports, aircraft, and governments. Their technology powers more seamless, safe, and sustainable air travel. Join a global technology leader supporting the aviation ecosystem with mission-critical solutions used by airlines, airports, and governments worldwide.

About the Role

The System Review Consultant will conduct a comprehensive technical evaluation of a suite of interrelated software products within the aviation-technology sector.

The primary objective is to provide an objective, data-driven analysis of system architecture, codebase integrity, engineering maturity, and overall technology readiness.

As an independent expert, you will assess the current state of several complex platforms, identifying technical risks, evaluating modernization potential, and documenting the overall health of the technology stack.

This is a neutral, evaluation-focused engagement requiring deep technical forensic capabilities and the ability to synthesize findings into high-level strategic reports.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Architecture & System Design Review

Evaluate the structural integrity, modularity, integration patterns, and architectural maturity of multiple software products, including readiness for cloud-native evolution.

  • Codebase & Component

Analysis Conduct deep-dive reviews of source code to assess quality, consistency, maintainability, and alignment with modern engineering standards

  • Technical Debt Assessment

Identify legacy constraints, deprecated frameworks, outdated design patterns, and quantify modernization/refactoring needs.

  • Engineering Practices

Evaluation Audit CI/CD pipelines, automated testing coverage, deployment workflows, and cybersecurity posture. Assess adoption of containerization technologies (Docker, container orchestration, Kubernetes, or similar) and evaluate how effectively they are integrated into build, deployment, and runtime environments.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure Readiness Review

Evaluate the systems’ capability to run in cloud, hybrid, or on-premise environments, including:

• Cloud-readiness of the architecture

• Use of cloud services or abstractions • Infrastructure-as-Code practices

• Scalability and reliability patterns (autoscaling, fault tolerance, observability)

  • Operational Performance Review

Analyse system scalability, maintainability, performance bottlenecks, and resilience under varying load or operational conditions.

  • Team & Process Analysis

Evaluate engineering capacity, governance structures, documentation practices, and the adequacy of the current tooling ecosystem, including DevOps workflows tied to cloud or container-based deployments (if applicable).

  • Compliance & IP Review

Assess third-party library usage, open-source compliance, and general IP hygiene.

  • Structured Reporting

Deliver comprehensive written reports detailing technical risks, modernization gaps, cloud/container readiness findings, and actionable improvement recommendations for executive stakeholders.

What we are looking for

Required Experience:

• 8–10+ Years in Software Engineering / Architecture

o Proven experience designing, building, or assessing complex, distributed systems.

• System Analysis Expertise

o Strong capability in performing “black-box” or “deep-dive” evaluations of unfamiliar or legacy codebases.

• Cloud & Containerization Proficiency

o Hands-on experience with:

▪ Docker or equivalent container technologies

▪ Orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, GKE, etc.)

▪ Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

▪ Cloud-native patterns (microservices, service mesh, autoscaling)

• Full-Stack Technical Literacy

o Deep understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability tooling, security, and modern software delivery practices.

• Analytical Rigor

o Ability to detect systemic architectural weaknesses and translate complexities into clear, risk-based summaries.

• Communication

o Exceptional technical writing and presentation skills, able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

• Aviation, aerospace, or other regulated/safety-critical sectors

• Experience supporting large-scale modernization initiatives, cloud migrations, or architectural redesigns.
