Your Role and Responsibilities
The Events Learning and Education Program Leader is responsible for the creation, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of educational programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, and professional development of internal teams responsible for event planning and execution. This role involves designing and leading learning initiatives that equip staff with the tools and resources they need to plan, manage, and deliver successful events. The ideal candidate will have a blend of event management expertise and instructional design experience, with a passion for educating and enabling others to succeed in the fast-paced events industry.

Your Role and Responsibilities
The Events Learning and Education Program Leader is responsible for the creation, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of educational programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, and professional development of internal teams responsible for event planning and execution. This role involves designing and leading learning initiatives that equip staff with the tools and resources they need to plan, manage, and deliver successful events. The ideal candidate will have a blend of event management expertise and instructional design experience, with a passion for educating and enabling others to succeed in the fast-paced events industry.
Key Responsibilities
Program Strategy and Development
- Design and implement a comprehensive learning strategy for event professionals, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the events department and the wider organization.
- Develop curriculum and training programs across various levels of event expertise, from onboarding for new hires to advanced learning for seasoned professionals.
- Ensure all learning materials reflect best practices in event management, integrating relevant industry trends, new technologies, and evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with event leaders to identify training gaps, prioritize learning needs, and determine the appropriate learning paths for different roles and teams
- Create and curate educational content that supports the full lifecycle of event planning and execution that is in line with the global event process, including deep diving into topics such as event strategy, logistics, budgeting, risk management, audience engagement, event technologies, and post-event evaluation.
- Develope training sessions and workshops to internal teams, using diverse methods such as instructor-led sessions, eLearning, webinars, and blended learning.
- Develope education and enablement mapped to career pathing
- Ensure training is easily accessible and always up to date
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective integration of new technology and new ways of working
- Measure the impact of learning programs, tracking participation, satisfaction, and event success metrics to assess the effectiveness of training initiatives.
- Gather feedback from participants and key stakeholders to refine and improve the learning experience, ensuring that programs are continuously evolving to meet emerging challenges in event management.
- Conduct needs assessments to stay ahead of changing industry trends and new challenges that require additional training or upskilling.
- Partner with senior event leaders to ensure alignment of learning programs with organizational goals and the development of high-performing event teams.
- Collaborate with external event experts or industry associations to bring in best-in-class content and insights to enhance internal learning programs.
- Support internal soft skills with education and enablement
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing across the events team, encouraging collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of best practices.
- Stay updated on industry developments, new event technologies, and emerging best practices to ensure educational programs remain relevant and impactful.
- Provide opportunities for event staff to earn certifications or professional development credits related to the events industry.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Four (4) years or more experience in marketing or related role
- Two (2) years or more experience in event marketing
- Experience with event and/or marketing platforms including Rainfocus, CVENT, Airtable, Marketo, etc. Monday. compreferred
- Ability to think strategically and to manage resources to achieve objectives
- Guides functional objectives or technologies, provides leadership
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
- Strong project management and organizational skills, including attention to detail
- High energy, independent worker, self-starter, resourceful, and problem-solver
- Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure, managing resources and several projects simultaneously
- Provides advice and guidance to other professionals
- Passionate about developing client advocates around IBM’s product portfolio
- Professional English language skills
- Master's degree in a related field, preferred
- Experience with event and/or marketing platforms including Rainfocus, CVENT, Airtable, Marketo, etc. preferred
