Project Overview

You will join an early-stage robotics and autonomous systems start-up, taking ownership of the software and ML function as the company moves from prototype to real-world deployment. This is a high-impact role where you will shape the ML and software architecture, define best practices, and build production-ready systems that power autonomous robotic platforms in live environments. You’ll work closely with founders and hardware teams to turn cutting-edge ML into robust, scalable, real-world systems.

Skills & Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the ML and software stack, defining architecture, tooling, and engineering standards.
• Design, train, and deploy machine learning models for robotic perception, including detection, segmentation, and tracking.
• Lead the transition from PoC to production, ensuring models are reliable, scalable, and optimised for real-world use.
• Implementing and optimizing Large Behavior Models (LBMs) and Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models to enable generalized robotic skills.
• Deploy and optimise models on edge devices, balancing latency, compute, and performance constraints.
• Work closely with robotics and hardware teams to integrate ML into end-to-end autonomy pipelines.
• Experience working in environments where ML models interact with physical systems
• Act as a key technical voice, influencing product direction and future hiring within the software team.

Tech Stack: Python, PyTorch / TensorFlow, ROS2 Computer Vision, Edge ML
