This position can be Paris-based or fully remote within CET +/-3h.
Team
Our Gaming team is made up of hybrid-casual, casual and mid-core experts. Our 'Core' games team supports internal and external studios worldwide in creating, developing and launching new hit games, whilst our 'Live' games team focuses on delivering higher engagement on our existing and successful games.
Voodoo is creating a new Studio with a big mission: find the next best way to entertain the world by taking our best hits to a new level. You will join a small team that is growing, composed of veterans from the industry, where you will participate in every aspect of development.
The Studio is working on refreshing and expanding our top legacy games – such as Helix Jump, Flappy Dunk, and WoodTurning. These games have already achieved great success, and we're eager to build on that momentum to (i) deploy learnings to more portfolio games and (ii) obtain a moonshot outcome on 1 game this year; Paper.io2 & Hole.io are good such past examples.
Role
We are looking for an outstanding Technical Director with a strong understanding of both the hypercasual and casual mobile game markets to help the team deliver on robust game roadmaps at a fast pace. You will take an innovative approach to gameplay ideas/features and give them their own spin.
- Engage in hands-on coding, creating innovative features played by millions of users
- Focus on balancing and core gameplay parameters/features to
- Manage the development cycle with support from teammates, identifying the engineering tasks and processes needed to execute the roadmap
- Partner with the General Manager in taking responsibility for technical team structure, recruitment and onboarding
- Guarantee the game is being built with high standards and solid coding practices, targeting long-term quality and a high development pace
- Monitor product health, working with the technical team to always increase product quality, making sure that issues are addressed on time.
- Deconstruct, analyze and adapt mobile game mechanics
- Work with product leadership on roadmap, rollouts and adoption
- Provide technical leadership for the team
Profile
- A creative and hacker mindset
- Good sense of gameplay experience and special attention to details
- 2+ years of experience as Technical Director or Technical Lead on games
- At least 6-7 years of professional experience on Unity or other game engines
- Successful track record in top-tier mobile games
- Familiar with optimization issues
- Fluent in English
- Comfortable with full-remote environment
