Junior IT Support / DevOps Assistant
About The Role
We’re looking for a junior team member who will support day‑to‑day IT operations, help desk activities, and basic systems administration. You’ll work closely with senior staff to support Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, user support, and general troubleshooting across the organization.
Compensation & Role Details:
Expected Salary Range: The base hourly rate for this role is expected to be between $20–$23 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
Help Desk & User Support
- Provide first‑level technical support to staff via email, phone, or in person.
- Troubleshoot issues with desktops, laptops, peripherals, software, and basic network problems.
- Assist users with password resets, access issues, and general IT inquiries.
- Maintain accurate documentation of tickets, fixes, and procedures.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes (hardware setup, account creation, permissions).
- Create, modify, and disable AD user and group accounts under guidance.
- Assist with permissions, security groups, and organizational unit tasks.
- Help maintain clean and secure directory hygiene through periodic audits.
- Assist with monitoring and updating Windows and Linux servers, drawing from experience noted in (Windows Server 2008/2012,2022 scripting, troubleshooting)
- Perform basic tasks such as checking services, reviewing logs, and performing routine maintenance.
- Help escalate system issues and collect diagnostic information for senior engineers.
- Perform hardware setup (workstations, monitors, peripherals).
- Assist with software installation and configuration.
- Support inventory tracking of IT equipment.
- Help with simple scripting or automation tasks if comfortable (PowerShell/Bash).
- Observe and follow documented runbooks and escalation procedures.
- Basic understanding of Windows desktop and server environments.
- Familiarity with Linux fundamentals (navigation, basic commands).
- Introductory knowledge of Active Directory concepts (users, groups, OU structure).
- Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to assist others patiently.
- Ability to follow instructions and document work clearly.
- Interest in progressing toward systems administration or DevOps in the future.
