We’re partnering with a growing Financial Services organisation that is continuing to build out a modern, cloud-first data platform to support its funds, portfolio analytics and investment operations.
They’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer with experience in the asset management or investment space to help shape and scale their data capability. This role will see you spearheading a small team of 3–4 engineers, delivering high-quality data solutions while working closely with investment, operations and analytics stakeholders.
Importantly, this position offers a fast-tracked pathway into a Manager / Head of Data role as the function continues to expand.
You MUST have full working rights (i.e. PR or natural pathway, Citizen) for this position
Location: Sydney CBD
Hybrid | 3 days/week in the office
What You'll Do
- Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines and data platforms within a modern cloud environment
- Lead and mentor a small team of 3-4 data engineers, setting engineering standards and best practices
- Develop and maintain ELT/ETL workflows using tools such as Airflow and dbt
- Work closely with investment, portfolio, and operations teams to deliver reliable data for reporting and analytics
- Design and implement data models that support investment and fund-level analytics
- Ensure strong data governance, testing and documentation practices across the platform
- Contribute to the long-term data strategy and architecture as the organisation continues to scale
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience working with modern cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow and dbt
- Strong SQL and Python skills for building and maintaining data pipelines
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT frameworks
- Exposure to asset management, investment management, or financial services data
- Understanding of fund structures, portfolios, or investment data models is highly desirable
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers, or the ambition to step into a leadership role
- Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to work closely with investment and business teams
