Katalist is hiring a Chief of Staff to the CEO to take operational work off the founder’s plate and bring more structure, follow-through, and clarity across the business.
This is not a strategy-only Chief of Staff role, it is a hands-on startup role focused on execution.
The person in this role will work directly with the CEO on things such as investor reporting, finance and accounting coordination, equity and Carta-related administration, legal and contract follow-up, documentation, hiring coordination, and day-to-day operational projects.
A large part of the role is taking scattered information across tools and people, turning it into something clear, and making sure important tasks move forward without constant supervision.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical problems, organizing messy situations, and creating order in a fast-moving startup environment.
We are looking for a very reliable peron who can start taking over tasks from the CEO on day 1.
Master’s degree preferred
A master’s degree is strongly preferred for this role, especially in business, finance, economics, management, law, or a related field.
We are also open to candidates with a bachelor’s degree if they bring strong relevant experience in startup operations, investor reporting, accounting coordination, equity administration, or founder support.
We are looking for someone with experience in a startup or fast-moving company, ideally in roles such as Chief of Staff, business operations, founder support, executive support with operational ownership, project coordination, or similar hands-on operational roles.
The strongest candidates will have experience with several of the following:
- investor reporting, investor relations support, or board / founder updates
- accounting coordination or finance-related operational work
- equity-related administration, ideally including exposure to Carta
- organizing and managing contracts, legal documents, and sensitive company records
- supporting founders or senior leadership with day-to-day operational execution
- cross-functional coordination across internal teams and external partners
- hiring coordination, applicant tracking systems (ATS), or interview process support
- preparing structured reports, summaries, presentations, or executive-ready materials
- working with spreadsheets, project management tools, Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, and similar systems
- handling unstructured operational tasks independently and moving them forward with minimal supervision
Experience in early-stage startups is strongly preferred.
This role is best suited to someone who is able to become productive quickly, understands startup-specific operational work, and can support the CEO across finance, investor, legal, hiring, and administrative workflows with a high level of reliability and detail.
This role is best suited for someone who is highly organized, extremely dependable, and naturally detail-oriented.
The right person for this role will:
- follow through consistently and not let important details slip
- create structure in messy, fast-moving situations
- take ownership without needing constant follow-up
- work carefully and reliably with sensitive information
- stay calm and practical when priorities shift
- think clearly, ask smart questions, and solve problems independently
- communicate in a clear, concise, and direct way
- be comfortable working closely with a founder and supporting high-trust operational work
- be hands-on and willing to execute, not just coordinate
- Salary: €3,000 to €4,000 gross per month, depending on experience and fit. Equivalent to €36,000 to €48,000 gross per year
- Travel opportunities: occasional travel to Barcelona, with expenses covered
- Conference exposure: opportunity to attend selected conferences with the CEO and build exposure to investors, founders, and industry networks
- High ownership: work directly with the CEO and gain visibility across key operational and business areas
- Remote flexibility: fully remote role with a Europe-based setup
