Head of Engineering – Product-Led SaaS Scale-Up (Oslo, Hybrid)

A growing SaaS company is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead its technical organisation and drive the next stage of the platform’s evolution. The company processes a high annual transaction volume and operates in a regulated environment, requiring a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and security.

Over the past year, the business has invested heavily in upgrading its technology, strengthening its product organisation, and preparing for international growth. The next phase includes continued modernisation of the platform, improving cloud infrastructure, and adopting AI‑supported development practices.

About the Role

As Head of Engineering, you’ll modernise and scale a platform with complex payment flows and significant transactional load. You’ll lead a team of engineers and remain hands‑on in daily development work. The role involves setting the technical direction, maturing infrastructure, and introducing new practices and tools that elevate development quality, automation, and speed.

You will work closely with leadership and product to ensure the engineering strategy aligns with broader business and customer goals. The position includes responsibility for architecture, infrastructure, and key technical decisions, and sits as part of the company’s management team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a growing engineering team
• Ensure high platform availability and operational stability
• Drive continuous development and scaling of the core product
• Modernise the technology stack, architecture, and infrastructure
• Manage and evolve cloud environments (Azure)
• Introduce and champion AI tools and automation within development workflows
• Maintain strong engineering processes and reliable releases
• Collaborate closely with product teams on technical priorities and roadmap alignment

What You Bring

• Experience leading engineering teams
• Strong background as a hands-on developer
• Knowledge of modern web technologies (e.g., Angular or React in frontend; .NET in backend)
• Experience with cloud-based solutions and DevOps practices (preferably Azure)
• Understanding of how AI tools can enhance development processes
• Commercial awareness and comfort working in a high‑paced environment
• Strong communication skills in both Norwegian and English
