Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team in Dubai. In this role, you will drive on-prem and cloud infrastructure excellence, ensure reliability across our platforms, and elevate our CI/CD and automation capabilities. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and contribute to scalable, secure, and high‑performance deployments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • On‑Prem Orchestration & Automation
  • Automate at scale with Ansible/Foreman/Satellite, PXE/Kickstart, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform where applicable).
  • Build HA clusters, load balancers, and resilient storage for low‑latency, high‑throughput workloads.
  • Red Hat Platform Engineering
  • Establish hardened RHEL baselines (CIS, SELinux, firewalld) and manage lifecycle/patching (EUS, kernel upgrades).
  • Deep OS troubleshooting (systemd, cgroups, I/O schedulers, NIC offloads) and capacity planning.
  • Implement observability with Prometheus/Grafana/ELK, SLO/SLI‑driven alerting, and actionable runbooks.
  • Java Runtime & Application Performance
  • Operate and optimize Java app servers (JBoss/WildFly, Tomcat; WebLogic a plus).
  • Tune JVM (G1/ZGC, heap sizing, thread pools) and profile with JFR, Async‑Profiler, and APMs (Dynatrace/New Relic/AppDynamics).
  • Lead automated load testing initiatives using JMeter, Gatling, or k6 to establish performance baselines.
  • Implement automated Penetration Testing and vulnerability scanning (e.g., OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, or Snyk) integrated directly into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Engineer zero‑downtime deployments (blue/green, canary), connection pool/GC tuning, and performance testing (JMeter/Gatling/k6).
  • Containers & Hybrid
  • Containerize Java services (Docker/Podman) and run on‑prem Kubernetes/OpenShift (operators, quotas, network policies, storage classes).
  • Build secure CI/CD (Jenkins/Azure DevOps/…) with artifact management (Nexus/Artifactory), SBOMs, image signing, and policy gates.
  • Cloud knowledge (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Design and operate workloads across Azure, AWS, and GCP, choosing the right service for the job (IaaS, managed DB, cache, messaging, observability).
  • Implement consistent patterns for identity, networking, security, logging, and cost governance across providers.
  • Build hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute/Direct Connect/Cloud Interconnect, site‑to‑site VPNs) between on‑prem and cloud estates.
  • Reliability & Security
  • Lead incident response and post‑mortems, drive MTTR down and reliability up.
  • Implement robust secrets management, PKI/cert rotation, and least‑privilege access; collaborate on audits and compliance.
  • Review the duties and responsibilities of this role and group into subheadings

Education and Experience

  • 8+ years of hands‑on DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering experience.
  • Strong Java runtime expertise: JVM/GC tuning, thread/heap diagnostics, and app‑server ops (JBoss/WildFly, Tomcat).
  • Experience operating on‑prem such as VMWare.
  • DevOps certification in Azure, AWS, or GCP would be an added advantage.
