About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled HVAC Controls Engineer to join our expanding team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and developing submittal packages and owner's manuals for Building Automation Systems (BAS). Your expertise will ensure that system designs meet performance, operational, and client expectations. You will work closely with sales teams, project managers, and technicians throughout the project lifecycle, providing technical guidance and ensuring seamless communication and documentation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a passion for automation technology and a desire to contribute to innovative building solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality control system designs that enhance building performance and energy efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess strong time management and organizational skills, demonstrating the ability to handle multiple projects efficiently. A problem-solving mindset with keen attention to detail is essential to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach are necessary to collaborate effectively with team members and clients. Candidates must have the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and adapt to changing project needs. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check are required. Preferred qualifications include experience in HVAC, electrical systems, PLCs, or building automation, along with an associate degree in HVAC, Electrical, Drafting, or Engineering (or equivalent technical education). Familiarity with Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Microsoft Visio, and Adobe Illustrator is also highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The HVAC Controls Engineer will be responsible for a range of technical and collaborative tasks, including designing DDC control panels, wiring schematics, and system interfaces to control HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Developing sequences of operation and system layouts tailored to specific project requirements is a core aspect of the role. Creating electrical wiring diagrams and floorplan graphics for user interfaces will also be part of your duties. You will select appropriate control system components and compile comprehensive project bill of materials (BOM) to ensure accurate procurement and installation. Collaborating with project managers and control technicians to prepare detailed submittal packages and owner's manuals is vital for project success. You will review contract plans, specifications, and budgets with project stakeholders, providing support and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Regularly coordinating schedules and providing updates to internal teams will ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within budget. Ensuring all documentation aligns with project deadlines and quality standards is a key responsibility, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of project delivery.
