About The Opportunity
- Full-time, permanent position
- Based in North Sydney or South Melbourne
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll play a central role in shaping the performance, growth, and culture of a team of 3–6 engineers. You’ll provide exceptional people leadership while maintaining enough technical context to support architectural discussions and problem‑solving across event‑driven, serverless‑first environments (Golang, CDK, Svelte).
Working closely with Product, Design, Delivery and your fellow Engineering leadership, you’ll balance Building (20%), Guiding (50%), and Leading (30%) — with a strong focus on nurturing talent, enabling delivery excellence, and removing blockers to help your team do its best work. Your leadership will contribute directly to the quality, reliability and innovation of solutions across oOh!media’s technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 3–6 software engineers, including 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching and career progression
- Maintain relevant technical context through selective hands‑on work and architectural input
- Foster a psychologically safe, collaborative and growth‑oriented team culture
- Recruit, interview and onboard new engineers
- Support and coach Senior Engineers (L3) as they take on Technical Lead responsibilities
- Partner with Product Owners and Delivery Leads to coordinate team delivery and remove blockers
- Represent your team in cross-functional discussions and communicate status, risks and wins to stakeholders
- Align with Engineering and Technology leadership to drive best practice and consistent ways of working
- Proven technical leadership experience, including direct people management
- A strong foundation in modern software engineering practices and cloud platforms (AWS)
- Experience coaching, developing and uplifting engineering capability within diverse teams
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to influence across technical and business contexts
- Familiarity with agile delivery, DORA/FLOW metrics and effective team prioritisation
- Experience with some or all of the following tech stack:
- Golang, TypeScript/Node.js, Svelte/React/Vue
- SQL/NoSQL databases (Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
- Experience in Out of Home media or advertising a plus (but not essential)
- Competitive salary package
- A positive, supportive workplace culture
- Professional growth and development opportunities
- Comprehensive, paid training and ongoing support
