About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions. You will ensure high-quality, reliable data is available to support critical business decisions. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is open to a longer-term engagement or permanent opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines across structured and unstructured sources.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineers to ensure high-quality, accessible, and reliable data.
  • Optimise data storage, transformation, and retrieval processes for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain best practices in data governance, quality, and security.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing data architecture and workflows.
  • Evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to enhance capabilities.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer in senior or lead roles.
  • Strong expertise in ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and pipeline orchestration (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt).
  • Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming languages (Python, Java, Scala).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native data services.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data modelling, data governance, and data quality frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.


Nice to Have

  • Exposure to real-time streaming data solutions.
  • Experience with machine learning pipelines or analytics platforms.
  • Prior experience in freelance or consultancy roles.
