Mid – Senior Java Software Engineer

Role: Software Developer

Salary: £50k to £60k per annum

Location: Remote


Tech Stack: Java, React, Spring Boot and Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure and GCP)

Sanderson are currently working with a leading software consultancy working with the government for a Mid- Senior Java Engineer.


We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying high-quality software solutions. You will work on complex software projects, contributing to the architecture, development, and improvement of software systems. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving the adoption of best practices in software development.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain complex software solutions that are secure, scalable, and fully tested.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with both technical strategy and business objectives.
  • Mentor junior engineers, promoting skill development, knowledge sharing, and best engineering practices.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to uphold high coding standards and team performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues to ensure smooth, efficient operation of software systems.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and integrating improvements where valuable.


What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in full‑stack software development, including end‑to‑end design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures, with the ability to build scalable and robust applications.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, particularly around continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), along with knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tooling.


This is a full-time, permanent role offering a starting salary up to £60 ,000 (DOE) and a remote-first working model.
