IOS + Mobile testing focus

A fast-growing, technology-first business in the eCommerce space is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to own quality across their entire stack and they mean own it.

This is a greenfield role. No legacy framework to unpick, no inherited processes to work around. You'll walk in, assess what's needed, and build the testing infrastructure from the ground up. Your tooling choices. Your standards. Your call.

The platform connects hundreds of brand partners, powers customer acquisition, and drives a unique membership model. Quality isn't a nice-to-have here, it's central to how the product competes.

This role is mobile and iOS first. The majority of the work lives there and the technical bar reflects that. If iOS automation is not your primary specialism, please do not apply. There is no flex on this.

What you'll be doing?

• Architect and build automated test suites across iOS, Android, web and REST APIs from scratch
• Own the iOS CI pipeline end to end, simulator versioning, concurrency failure modes, artifact collection
• Build and maintain payment testing infrastructure, Stripe test mode, WireMock fixtures, parallel CI runners with guaranteed isolation between runs
• Embed testability into the product process before features are built, not after
• Establish QA standards across the engineering team, contract testing, flake quarantine policies, mock/stub/spy conventions
• Own the full bug lifecycle and drive automated test gating across every PR and release

Key experience:

• Deep, multi-year hands-on iOS automation experience, this is the core of the role
• Proven Detox experience at a diagnostic level, you’ve identified and patched grey-box synchronisation failures caused by custom native modules firing background timers, not just applied workaround
• A genuine understanding of how Detox hooks into the iOS run loop to determine app idle state and what breaks that in React Native apps
• Fluency with XCUITest, accessibility identifier strategies, launch argument injection and Keychain seeding
• A clear, repeatable methodology for testing payment edge cases card declines, 3DS flows, capture failures and network timeouts in CI with guaranteed isolation between runs
• Hands-on experience configuring GitHub Actions or Bitrise to run iOS test suites in parallel across simulators, including handling the concurrency failure modes specific to iOS
• Experience with API contract testing, Pact, JSON Schema or equivalent
• A sharp understanding of test doubles at the implementation level when to use a spy, stub or mock and how to apply them correctly in a React Native context
• eCommerce or retail background is a massive plus
